Harsh Sen: As part of my program, I completed a summer internship at the Westin Hotel in Mauritius. The internship lasted around five months, during which I gained hands-on experience across various kitchen departments.
The selection process began with submitting my resume through the institute’s placement cell, followed by an interview with the hotel’s HR team. My academic record and communication skills played a key role in securing this opportunity
Careers360: Could you share details on the support you received from faculty, peers, and the placement cell regarding the internship?
Harsh Sen: The support I received from UEI Global was outstanding. Faculty members conducted mock interviews, helped us refine our resumes, and guided us on industry expectations. My peers were equally supportive—we shared insights, resources, and kept each other motivated throughout the process.
Careers360: How was your internship experience overall? What were your major learnings from it?
Harsh Sen: My internship was an enriching and eye-opening experience. It provided me with real-world exposure to kitchen operations and gave me a deep understanding of teamwork, time management, and the importance of effective communication.
One of the most valuable lessons I learned was how to interact with guests—understanding their needs, addressing their concerns with patience and professionalism, and ensuring a positive experience. These practical skills are something that classroom learning alone can't fully teach.
