An Interview with Kamruddin Ansari, alumnus of UEI Global Pune

Careers360: Tell us about your domain and your work profile. At the professional level, did you pursue the same field you were interested or you switched

Kamruddin Ansari: I am Kamruddin Ansari currently working as Chef de Partie with one of the leading brand in luxury Cruises “ Royal Caribbean International” I pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Studies and Catering operations from UEI Global College, Pune (Batch 2018–2021). My professional journey started with The Ritz Carlton Pune as a Commis 2, and then I got an opportunity to work with Jumeirah Hotel Group in Kuwait as a Commis1 in the Italian Kitchen for 2 years. Today I am travelling the world with Royal Caribbean and having a good learning curve for my professional career. I’m proud to say that I pursued the same field I was passionate about during college.

Careers360: Can you briefly tell us about your career path so far?

Kamruddin Ansari: My career path and professional journey started with The Ritz Carlton Pune as a Commis 2 where I got an opportunity to closely work with many renowned Chefs, I have collected various skills in the different Dept. of the Kitchen. Working with international brand Jumeirah Hotel Group in Kuwait was definitely a feather in my cap where I worked with the best Italian Chefs to inculcate my practical experience. Due to my integrity and passion and sincerity towards my work I was felicitated for the “Hygiene Award, Label 3 Renton kill Brecker, Horeca , Kuwait. Today I am with Royal Caribbean for my professional career.

Careers360: Is the Industry work different from what you learnt at UEI Global, Pune College?

Kamruddin Ansari: Both Industry and College have different learning perspectives, The basics learnt in the college is applied as practical in the Industry.

Careers360: How do you think your time in college has added value to your life, both professional and personal?

Kamruddin Ansari: The foundation of my career was laid in the college through theory and practical inputs given by mentors and faculties. It improved my personality, built confidence and helped me to groom for the Hospitality Industry.

Careers360: What was your initial thought process when you joined Uei Global, Pune College?

Kamruddin Ansari: From Childhood I was passionate about cooking and saw my mother preparing various dishes. Through UEI Global I was able to fulfill my dreams and passion.

Careers360: You must have spent a memorable time at your UEI Global College. Do you miss being a part of it? Share a few good memories.

Kamruddin Ansari: Absolutely, I miss my college time ..! Theme Lunch, Food Festival and Chef Completions, various Cultural Functions and most memorable National Event – Le vitesse. I also enjoyed Industrial visits as well as the Fun time spent with Friends during practical sessions

Careers360: Briefly take us through your life at the campus, the activities you used to do and your routine life.

Kamruddin Ansari: My routine included classroom learning in the morning, followed by practical lab sessions or group projects in the afternoon. We often had workshops, skill-based sessions, and sometimes guest lectures by industry professionals. Apart from academics, I was also part of various event organisation committee that helped organize events, giving me leadership experience early on.

Careers360: Apart from academics, what were the other activities you were involved in and how did it enrich your life?

Kamruddin Ansari: I actively participated in Cultural events, Management games, and Hospitality fests.

These activities helped me improve my communication, teamwork, and planning skills. They also taught me how to work under pressure and stay organized—skills that are very useful in the hospitality industry today.

Careers360: How did you keep updated with the industrial requirements and what was the role of the institute in it?

Kamruddin Ansari: The college played a major role in keeping us upraised about the Industry. We had Guest sessions, Industrial visits, and Internship opportunities. Our faculty often shared real-time industry case studies and trends. The placement cell also guided us about the current hiring standards and helped us align our skills accordingly.

Careers360: You are a proud alumnus of this top College. What is the best part of UEI Global Institute from a student’s perspective?

Kamruddin Ansari: The best part about UEI Global is the Industry-driven education and the Individual attention students receive. The faculty is knowledgeable and approachable, and the college truly focuses on making students job-ready. From internships to final placements, the support system here is very strong.

Careers360: What is your suggestion/guidance for the Hospitality Management Program (Course) aspirants?

Kamruddin Ansari: My advice to Hospitality Management Program aspirants is to be knowledgeable, know the latest industry trends, have a good attitude and focus on upgrading your soft skills like communication and teamwork—they are just as important as technical knowledge. Use every opportunity in college—internships, workshops, events—to gain real experience. And most importantly, choose a college like UEI Global, where learning is practical and career-focused.
