National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT ) has brought two major changes in the last couple of weeks, reschedule of exam events and renaming the upcoming all India level hotel management entrance examination NCHM JEE from NCHMCT JEE.
The exam conducting body NCHMCT, in its first move, had extended the application deadline for undergraduate programme in B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration by 4 days, from April 7, 2014 to April 11, 2014.
L.K. Ganguli, NCHMCT Director (Accounts & Finance) told Careers360 that the deadline was revised after the high registration rush recorded during last few days.
Mr. Ganguli told that the schedule of other important exam events like registration process for the online counselling and choice filling might also change accordingly. Further, Mr. Ganguli informed that the choice modification for 2nd round of counselling will take place in online mode and will be conducted from June 25 to June 27, 2014 till 5.00 pm.
For current academic session, admissions to NCHM JEE 2014 qualifying candidates will be offered for nearly 7454 seats.
Another major change brought by NCHMCT includes exam name alternation introduced by NCHMCT, an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
NCHMCT director informed that the entrance exam from now onwards will be called as NCHM JEE. Prior to this, the name of the exam was NCHMCT JEE.
According to official sources, for the current year more than 20,000 candidates are expected to register for the exam whereas in 2012-13 the total number of received applications was 15,215.
The official websites including the newly launched NCHM and the already existing NCHMCT, however, do not carry any official notification regarding renaming of the hotel management entrance exam.
NCHM JEE 2014 exam is scheduled to be held in paper pencil based format on April 26, 2014 across 33 Indian cities. NCHM JEE 2014 score is accepted by 35 Institutes including 21 Central Institutes and 14 State Government Institutes and 15 other private institutes for hotel management located in different states.
