The NCHM JEE 2016 has begun on April 30 for admission to 52 institutes of hotel management (IHMs), including 21 Central, 16 State Government and 15 private institutes, consisting of around 8,000 seats. Around 20,000 candidates across the country have appeared in the exam.
Across centres, the entry for the exam started at 9 am and the exam began at 10 am to continue till 1 pm. The national level entrance exam is being conducted by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) in 33 cities across the country.
With duration of 3 hours, NCHM JEE 2016 is an offline mode test, held in a paper-pencil based pattern. The question paper is available in English and Hindi, except for the questions of English Language Section.
The NCHM JEE 2016 is divided in 4 sections – Numerical Ability & Scientific Aptitude, Reasoning & Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, English Language and Aptitude for Service Sector.
As per the marking scheme, the paper carries a total of 200 questions with each question carrying 1 mark. For each correct answer, the candidate will get 1 mark and for each incorrect response, there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks.
Before entering the exam hall, an aspirant Akanksha said, “I am well prepared and have taken care of every section during my preparation. Also, I have solved a number of previous year question papers. Let’s see what is coming up.”
Talking on various sections, another candidate Payal said, “I am confident about Reasoning, General Knowledge and English, but a little worried about Numerical and Service Sector sections. I want to join IHM Pusa.”
